Do You Have To Learn Snare Drum Before You Start Learning Quads?

I’m planning on getting drum lessons, and I know nothing about drums. I am really interested in playing the quad drums, but I don’t know if you have to learn snare first, then move on to quads. Also, which is easier? Not like it matters which is easier because I am really dedicated to music and learning about different instruments.
Thank you in Advance!

I have played drums since the sixth grade. Normally you begin with the snare, learn you basic rhythm stokes, read sheet music, and practice daily getting your roll to sound almost effortless. Percussion sections are important to a school band, both in concert or marching, as they keep everyone in time. Good luck with your lessons, playing the drums can be fun and possibly in the future, a means of compensation.

I play the drums too! So this is how it works:
First of all, the snare is much much easier. The quads obviously have 4 different drums connected to eachother, making the rhythm patterns harder. When you first start out, your drum teacher will make you practice on a practice pad. Then slowly you will move onto snare. Then in between snare and quads, you learn about the base drum which is the biggest drum. Once you become really good at snare and base (this takes about 3-4 years min) your drum teacher will move you onto quads. But if you get private lessons, then you might learn faster! maybe in 2-3 years instead.
    Good luck!
    and go drums!!!!!
